The Sugar Syndrome by Lucy Prebble
29th May 7pm & 1st June 2pm
Studio Theatre | £4 - £8
It’s the year 2003 and Dani, a 17-year-old girl, finds herself infatuated with online chatrooms. She finds Lewis, a lonely 22-year-old, and forms a "tricky" sexual relationship with him. At the same time, she pretends to be an 11-year-old boy to convicted paedophile Tim, eventually meeting him and forming a friendship. What initially appears to be a play about online chatrooms unfolds into an exploration of loneliness, control, identity, and vulnerability, as Dani’s complex relationships with Lewis, Tim, and her mother, Jan, are revealed.
